Mission Statement

Valley Park, Recreation & Youth Center, Inc. (VPR&YC) is a community organization of unpaid volunteers dedicated to supporting the educational and recreational needs of young people and adults in the Wet Mountain Valley area and maintaining the historical Old ‘Westcliff’ Schoolhouse and the tennis courts for public use.    

The Old ‘Westcliff’ Schoolhouse -    This beautiful stone building was built in 1891 as a two room schoolhouse for the children of the Settlers.   It is now home to the Valley Park Recreation & Youth Center and the Old ‘Westcliff’ Museum. This building is on the National Register of Historical Places.

Special School Club Functions
The Olde Schoolhouse is occupied by The Mennonite children
for education from Mid Sept. thru mid May.

TENNIS - Valley Park, Recreation & Youth Center also has Tennis Lessons available for all ages and all levels of play,  from beginner to Advanced, Individuals to groups.   The tennis courts are open to the pubic and VPR & YC maintains the courts. Give Larry a call for lessons

2016 Raffle Quilt
"Soaring High in the Sangres"

The Olde Schoolhouse Quilters of Westcliffe (OSQ), a non-profit organized under Valley Park, Rec, & Youth Center, Inc, is a club of  enthusiastic quilters. The meetings take place at Valley Bible Fellowship, 116 Hermit Lane, Silver Cliff on the 1st and 2nd Tuesdays of the month.  On the 1st Tuesday of each month is Comfort Quilts, their service project, when they make quilts for children in compromised situations.  Community participation is welcome at Comfort Quilts as membership in OSQ is not a requirement.  On the 2nd Tuesday OSQ sponsors quilt education through workshops, guest speakers, or technique building activities, from 9 a.m. to noon, and holds their business meetings and "Sew & Tell" from 1p.m. to 3 p.m.  The annual 4 day Labor Day Weekend Quilt Show, featuring a hand-made raffle quilt, a boutique, and a large display of beautiful quilts, has been held at the Old 'Westcliff' Schoolhouse Museum for over 18 years.  For  more information about Comfort Quilts or OSQ club, email oldeschoolhousequilters@gmail.com, or call 783-2199.  New members and visitors are welcome.
